About Alana
Dance has been a huge aspect of my life, and part of who I am for the last 13 years. I love everything from the recitals, to the competitions, to the practices, to the team. I never feel more lost, and I never feel more found than when I'm dancing. I let go of stress, connect to the music, and really feel the freedom to express my creative individuality and let me passion for it explode. I train around 25 hrs a week with my company, TPDS, in all different styles; my favorite being lyrical, pointe, or jazz.
When I'm not teaching dance, or dancing myself, you can find me doing something artsy, or taking pictures for photography! I have had 4 pieces displayed in the LISD art show, through my school years so far, and I have won "photo of the months," currently displayed in the front office, for photography club! Painting is my favorite art medium to use, because it's free flowing and helps me relax. One of my future goals, is to be a small business owner of a photography business!! I feel like my leadership abilities, people skills, and organized, goal based lifestyle, will help me open a successful business if I really work towards it, and major in business at a college, like I plan to. My goal now in life, it to just enjoy it to the fullest, and really get the high school experience. I want to put time into the important friendships in my life, and make lots of amazing memories. A few of my proudest accomplishments are winning the "most likely to brighten your day" and "best smile" superlatives at 8th grade graduation. They meant so much to me because it's not easy to be positive, and kind all the time, but it means a lot when your peers notice a quality like that in you!
My church, VCC is a fruitful part of my life too! I'm involved in a small group, in the church's youth program, HUB, and I really enjoy it:) As far as my beliefs go, politically I'm a republican, but I strongly agree with respecting everyone, even if they are different than you. Someone who taught me that is my great grandma, one of my heroes. I really value every moment we get to spend together, and I cherish the unique relationship we have. One of the biggest things she has taught me, that I like to live by, is to "never let a bad day, make a bad life. Have joy in your heart, no matter the circumstance."
